Why living in
Rodo Park & Centro?
Rodo Park and the Center are the bohemian transition phase between Ciudad Vieja, Downtown, and the comfortable Riviera-like feel of the waterfront residential areas of Pocitos and Punta Carretas. Parque Rodo is one of Montevideo's largest parks (Parque Battle is another) where visitors can enjoy relaxing under a canopy of tree limbs on a hot day or stroll past the weekend book stalls, crafts markets, before or after an hour spent paddle-boating in one of the Park's large ponds.
The Centro is a bustling area full of university campuses, student housing, second-hand shops...the Design Area (La Zona de Diseño) and more budget-priced housing and eateries. The area is full of restored and un-restored residences, and is seen as perhaps the best area to still find a bargain in everything from office furniture to housing.
