Carrasco & Buceo are two of the most luxurious residential areas in Montevideo.
Buceo is home to the Montevideo Yacht Club and features modern glass towers overlooking the yacht basin and Buceo Beach. The World Trade Center and Montevideo Shopping (Mall) are high-profile commercial and shopping areas nearby.
Carrasco is a quiet residential area of detached homes and 2 and 3 story duplexes. Many long-term visitors attached to embassies and foreign multinational companies favor this area when renting for their executives and functionaries (with or without families). The Uruguay-American School is located in the neighborhood of Carrasco, and it operates on the North American school-year calendar. Classes are offered in English. Because of its quiet location on the outskirts of Montevideo (towards Punta del Este and the most popular summer beach resorts), it is recommended that visitors have an automobile, although there are frequent bus connections to Pocitos (20 minutes) and downtown (40 minutes).
